How to Chop Garlic

Welcome to WESTERN COOKING IN PLAIN ENGLISH VIDEOS! In this video I've shown how to chop garlic as quickly and easily as possible.

Ingredients :

Firm, Fresh Garlic Bulb

Equipment :

Cutting Board
Sharp Knife

1. When buying garlic, choose those bulbs that are heaviest in weight and firm not soft when squeezed with your thumb.

2. Remove individual garlic cloves by twisting off the papery top of the bulb (if that's an option) and using your thumb to wedge and break the cloves free.

3. Put the cloves on the cutting board and break the skins open by laying the side of a wide bladed knife on one clove at a time and then pressing the side of the knife with the palm of your hand down on the clove until you feel the skin pop open.

4. Peel the skins off the garlic cloves.

5. Hold the garlic cloves firmly to the cutting board with curled fingers, bring the side of the knife up against your knuckles, using them as a guide, and slice the garlic.

6. Gather the sliced garlic by sweeping the pieces in a pile with the knife and then keep chopping and gathering until the garlic is chopped to small pieces.
